Pedal for Protein (P4P) is a group ride sponsored by the Presbytery of the Redwoods, Hunger Task Force based in Napa, California.

All funds raised are donated to Northern California Food Banks for local food pantries and one international hunger relief project. Participation helps many grassroots food pantries that are struggling to provide quality protein food such as canned tuna, peanut butter, canned beans, yogurt, eggs and more to hungry families, seniors and children along the Northern California Coast from the Golden Gate Bridge to Crescent City, also including Napa, Solano and Lake Counties.

Pedal for Protein raised over $45,000 in 2019. In its first six years, riders have raised collectively nearly a quarter of a million dollars.

  • Pedal for Protein Ride on Hiatus

To help prevent further spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) we have decided to take a “Sabbath Rest” from the 2020 group ride. However, we are still raising funds for Food Banks and Pantries throughout the region and WE NEED YOUR HELP!  Our goal this year is $40,000. Every contribution will make a difference. Donations by check can be made out and mailed to Presbytery of the Redwoods, 1226 Salvador Ave, Napa CA 94558-1817. Please make sure “P4P” and the rider’s name, if any, is in the memo line. While the group ride will be on hiatus, riders are encouraged to organize and gather locally for day rides. The really dedicated folks may even log up to 350 miles from September 21-25!  While we may miss the fellowship of the group ride and the wonderful meals and gatherings at all the different churches, we can still do the work of Jesus. Will you join us in helping others who don’t have enough food for their families?

  • Patty Sanders Retires!

Patty Sanders, P4P event initiator, rider, and coordinator-extraordinaire, has retired from her position as ride director – a position she held from 2014 through 2019.  Heartfelt thanks and well wishes go out to her and her husband, John, who provided transportation and sag support to the riders for the past six years.  P4P welcomes Dan Sanders, David Standafer and Craig Zimmerman as 2020 Team of Directors.
